“We work in silence and let our success make the noise”

About me

Simon O’Brien

MSc, BSc (Hons)

Director

I am a Sports Rehabilitator and Sports Scientist specialising in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries, alongside strength and conditioning for footballers and runners.

I currently work with professional footballers competing across the Premier League, EFL Championship, La Liga, Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League, providing individualised rehabilitation, injury management and performance support tailored to the demands of elite-level football.

Alongside my work at The Athletes Room, I am a Lecturer at the University of Greater Manchester, teaching across the BSc (Hons) Sport Rehabilitation programme. My clinical and academic experience is underpinned by many years working across private practice and elite sporting environments, managing a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries.

I have also been part of multidisciplinary medical and performance teams at major international sporting events, including the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and World Athletics Championships. Most recently, I supported professional footballers competing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, providing rehabilitation and performance support around the demands of international tournament football.

My aim at The Athletes Room is simple: to provide every athlete with an exceptional standard of rehabilitation and performance support. Whether working with a professional athlete or a recreational runner, I apply the same evidence-informed, individualised approach and high standards of care used within elite sport.
